About the course

LIS 201: The Information Society is a course offered to undergraduates at the University of Wisconsin-Madison through the School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS). The course is taught by Professor Gregory J. Downey, Director of the UW's School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and is a 'hybrid' course combining in-person lectures and discussions with an online component involving a class blog and wiki.

In place of a final exam or paper, LIS 201 students each chose a book relating to the course matter and created a blog around it. This blog is the culmination of my semester in the course, and I hope it has helped improve readers' understanding somewhat of the complex concept of the 'information society'.

Thank you for reading!
